How do I publish my web pages from my PC to my Virtual Server using Microsoft FrontPage
If you have FrontPage extensions installed on your server, you MUST follow the details below. You should not FTP your site to your server as this is likely to cause corruptions in the extensions.
- Make sure you have a connection to the internet. (Usually this is through a dial up connection with your ISP.)
- Open Microsoft FrontPage from your Start menu.
- Open the FrontPage web that you wish to publish.
- Click the FILE menu button, and choose 'Publish FrontPage Web'.
- Enter your web address as www.yourname.dom and then click the OK button.
- FrontPage will now contact the server. Enter your username and Password when prompted. These were provided in your welcome e-mail.
- If there are no problems then FrontPage will now publish your site to the web.
- If you just want to send the pages you have changed since you last updated, please remember to tick the 'publish changed pages only' box when publishing.
Note: You will only be able to publish using the domain name (not the IP address) so you will need to make sure the domain name is fully propagated and working correctly. |
I have a form that I want to e-mail results back to me, how do I do this using Microsoft FrontPage?
With FrontPage, you must provide an e-mail address that you want your form results to be e-mailed back to, and we have to configure the extensions this end so that it knows the e-mail address is a legitimate one. So that you do not have to contact support to let us know what you want to use, we have already configured your FrontPage extensions to include the e-mail address 'info@yourdomain.com'. This will then be forwarded to your pop account.
Why do I get 'you have no server extensions installed?'
This usually means that the FrontPage extensions have become corrupted. You can reinstall the extensions thought the MyServerWorld control panel. Please make sure you have a backup of your site before you do this as reinstalling extensions may cause the site to stop functioning.
Can I use FrontPage FTP?
Never use FTP when you have FrontPage extensions installed, it can sometimes cause your site to be deleted.
I am receiving error messages and 500 errors when trying to publish my website using Microsoft FrontPage. It is over two-hundred pages in size.
We have memory limits in place due to the nature of the Shared Server environment. This is so one user does not use up too many resources, thus effecting other users on the server
If you have a site larger than 200 pages and are receiving errors, then can you please try publishing your site in seperate sections (roughly 50 pages at a time) rather than the entire site.
This will mean a lot less resources are being used at once so you should not encounter any problems.
Please note however, that if you are using FrontPage rather than a standard FTP client or other publishing package to publish your site that is generally over 100 pages in size, then you should consider moving to a Dedicated Server package.
