Q: What is an autoresponder?
A: An autoresponder can be setup on a specific e-mail address for example sales@yourdomain.co.uk, once activated if an e-mail is sent to this address it will instantly respond with a custom e-mail set by yourself. For example "Thanks for e-mailing, we will respond shortly".
Q: What can I do with my additional POP3 mailboxes?
A: Additional POP3 accounts are ideal to give out to different members of staff in your company. Each POP3 account has a separate password so only authorised staff can access their POP3 account.
Q: What is email forwarding?
A: E-mail forwarding is a way of sending mail to one e-mail address (for example sales@yourdomain.co.uk) and having it automatically forwarded to another address (for example yourcompany@your-isp.co.uk).
Q: What is your anti spam policy?
A: Webconexion.net does not allow spamming of any kind through its servers. This includes sending mail through another company's server promoting a domain name that is hosted on our servers. Any user found spamming will have their account de-activated without notice.
Q: How do I pay for my services?
A: You can pay for the services with a debit or credit card, once the order is finalised you will be taken to WorldPay to process your payment.
Q: Do you offer standard telnet connection?
A: No, we only provide SSH (Secure Shell) telnet access.
Q: Can I setup more than 1 MySQL User?
A: No, we create a single default user for you to connect with. All authorisations of other uses can be built into the PHP scripts you use to interface to the database.
Q: Can I setup more than 1 MySQL Database?
A: Yes, you can have up to 10 MySQL databases per hosting account. You can create MySQL databases via the hosting control panel.
Q: Why does my HCP not work?
A: The HCP requires that you use a COOKIES ENABLED browser. The HCP is still early in development so, if you experience any errors, please email support@webconexion.com with the details of the fault.
Q: Why do my CGI scripts report Premature End Of Script errors?
A: You need to make sure that the script includes the correct content type (e.g. html/text), has been saved in UNIX format, and has its permissions set to 755 or 777. You may also have to set the permissions of the directory if outside the standard cgi-bin directory (also 755/777).
Q: How do I send mail from my account?
A: You should send mail through your ISP's mail server. This server is generally known as your outgoing mail server and usually has a name like mail.your-isp.co.uk.
Q: Why can't I use LOAD INTO with MySQL?
A: We do not enable the LOAD INTO functionality for users due to security reasons and so this is not available.
Q: How do I password protect a directory?
A: If you need to password protect a directory on you account, please send an email to support via your Hosting Control Panel being sure to include the directory name, secure name, username and password. We will then protect the directory for you within 6 hours.
Q: I have uploaded my website but the default "Your Account Is Ready" page is still showing
A: It is likely that your uploaded index page is not a .html extension and so the default page is still showing. .html has precidence as an index file over all other types so you will need to remove or replace this file. If you want to refer to it again, we recommend that you rename the file.
Q: How do I login to the members area?
A: You can login to your members area using your customer account username and password or the username and password from any of your web hosting accounts. In each case, you will access the members area for that client.
Q: Why can't I configure my hosted domains using the DCP?
A: We do not allow you to configure the domain names that are associated with a hosting account since the hosting account renders most domain configuration obsolete. You can of course resquest a retag or namserver change by emailing technical support.
Q: I have just regisered a new domain name but cannot configure it. Why is this?
A: You will be unable to configure a newly registered domain name until is has fully propagated. This usually takes 24-48 hours.
Q: Your new site is not allowing me to access the email checker in the old way. Why is this?
A: You can access your email checker by visiting your Hosting Control Panel and clicking the Check Email link in the top right link list. Please note that each email account that you wish to be checked needs to be added individually or at the time of creation.
Q: How can I change my system password?
A: If you password has become insecure or if you wish to change it to a more memorable password, simply email technical support with your desired password and we can change it for you.
Q: How do I change the Legal Owner of my UK domain name?
A: To change the Legal Registrant of a Domain Name both the current registrant and recipient must complete a Transfer of Registration form. If the registrant does not have the Transfer of Registration form, one can be requested from Nominet UK by either signed fax, letter or e-mail to Nominet UK's Registration Department (fax: 01865 332295, e-mail: certificates@nominet.org.uk). The request must fully state the Domain Name(s) concerned and provide the full postal address to forward Transfer Forms to.
The transfer of registration form must then be signed by the both parties and posted back to Nominet accompanied by a signed headed letter of authority from both the transferor and the transferee.

Q: How can I use PHP with a .html extension as opposed to using .php?
A: If you need your web pages to use a .html or to mix and match with other extensions such as .shmtl or .cgi for example, you can create a .htaccess file with extra apache/php directives.
For example, you could add the following to your .htaccess file in order for PHP to be parsed with a .html file:
AddType application/x-httpd-php htm html
This will get the Apache web server to parse for php expressions automatically in htm and html files even if they are not .php.
