Uploading a CGI script to your hosting account is simple. Logon to your account with FTP. Once logged in, go to the directory where you want to upload your CGI script to. Make sure that your FTP client is set to ASCII mode (if you upload in binary your script will not work), upload your CGI script ensuring that it has a .cgi or .pl extension.
What are permissions and how do I set them?
To make a script work, you must make the script executable. You do this by setting the permissions on the script. A CGI script should be given the following permissions.
755 or owner=read/write/execute, group=read/execute, world=read/execute
Permissions can be set within WS_FTP by right clicking the file and then selected the CHMOD option from the menu. You then update the check boxes accordingly or enter the number into the text box.
